Pastor Dave

My wife, Chris, and I have been married for 38 years. We have three sons; John, James and Jason. Our oldest, John, is 31 years old, James is 26, and Jason is 25. John and his wife, Kimmie, and children, Maddy and Drew, make their home in Paradise. John is a deacon at Skyway Assembly of God in Paradise. About four years ago, James and his wife, Jacqueline, moved back from Minot, North Dakota to make their home here in the Kern River Valley, in the town of Lake Isabella with their son Gage.  James is our Worship Leader and Youth Director at New Life Assembly of God. Our youngest son, Jason, married Jackie Rule in June of 2009 and the two of them are serving at Gleanings for the Hungry in Sultana near Dinuba in the central valley of California.

I am 59 years old with more than 33 years of ministerial experience. I have served as a youth pastor at Bethel Christian Center in Fresno, youth and associate pastor at Pacific Coast Community Church of Huntington Beach and youth pastor at Full Gospel Church of King City. I then also served for 7 years as pastor of Full Gospel Church, 11 years as pastor of Skyway Assembly of God in Paradise, California, and 3 years as the pastor of the Country Church of Centerville. I am now in my 8th year as the pastor of New Life Assembly of God in Wofford Heights.

Personal Mission Statement

As pastor, my work involves preparing the people of God to do the work of the ministry and having spiritual oversight over the souls of those in the church. A pastor is a pastor, not because of a title or position, but a calling from God that is worked out in relationship with God’s people. Here’s how a pastor relates to God’s people:

  • First, a pastor oversees the condition of their soul. This oversight involves caring, instruction and correction.
  • Secondly, a pastor equips the people of God for ministry. This involves giving instruction, training, empowerment and authorization to engage in ministry.

Personal Vision Statement

I want to help people find their place in the Body of Christ. My preaching, teaching and leading will focus on identifying the gifts and calling of God’s people and giving them the knowledge and tools needed to carry out their service to God.
