Men’s Ministry

Our Men’s Ministries helps men discover a new way of looking at oneself as a godly man. As a result, it embodies the vision of where we are trying to go with all the men who are adherents to Assemblies of God churches throughout the United States. The major change in philosophy is to challenge men to think about who they are in Christ.

  • In  John 5:23, Jesus declares that to honor Him is to honor our Father who is in heaven.
  • In Matthew 15:4, the Lord also said that we are to honor our father and mother; and in this statement laid down a principle for honoring our families.
  • And then the apostle Paul, in 1 Timothy 5:3, said we are to make provisions for those who are in need.
  • In 1 Peter 2:17, the apostle Peter says we are to honor those who are in authority over us.

These four principles paint a picture of what it means to be a man of God. If a man can look himself in the mirror and see himself as someone different, someone dressed in the full armor of God, fully ready to take on life as a man of honor, then we will have accomplished the vision.

Some of our Activities

Trap Shooting: Sometimes on a Sunday, after church or on a Saturday, after Man Up, we will head out to the shooting range and shoot some clay pigeons.  Because the shooting range is NOT conducive to BOTH target shooting and trap shooting, please, bring only a shot gun.  Dress casual for church so you don’t need to change clothes afterward.  Meet at the church and we will caravan to our shooting location (upriver out of Kernville). We will probably shoot for 2 or 3 hours, then call it a day.

Prospector’s Camp: The Man Up men’s fellowship is sponsoring a 3 day, 2 night camp out near Keysville on June 7, 8 and 9.  The purpose is prospecting… panning for gold.  The only cost will be for our common meals (cost not set yet).  While this is a Man Up event, we are magnanimously inviting the women who might enjoy the camping and prospecting. Everyone will supply their own tent and camping gear and prospecting tools.

Surf Fishing Camp: Our Man UP men’s fellowship is planning a camping in Morrow Bay for Surf Fishing. This will be July 12, 13 and 14.  While this is a Man Up event, we are magnanimously inviting the women who might enjoy the camping and fishing experience (there is some nice sight seeing and shopping too… but who cares about that).  The expense (not yet set) will include camp site fees and common meals.  Everyone is responsible for their own transportation and any meals out.  To save a little money, share a ride and split the fuel costs.
