Go ye…
Jesus clearly stated the Great Commission in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.” That’s what world missions is all about. Our involvement comes down to two choices:
We can go
From among our numbers, many have gone as life-long, career missionaries, and many have gone on short term mission trips to help spread the Gospel in other parts of the world.
We can send
If it becomes apparent that an individual Christian cannot personally go, then the other option is to send. “And how shall they preach, except they be sent?” Romans 10:15 For most Christians, this is the most likely option. But how do we send? By financially supporting those who do go, and praying daily for their needs. The Bible is a missionary Book, the Gospel is a missionary Gospel. We are a church that believes in the Great Commission and supports foreign missions.
Be ye…
In addition to sending others to share the Gospel in foreign lands, there is one more aspect of missions we can be involved in… Home Missions. Jesus said, “You will be my witnesses” Acts 1:8. To BE a witness has more to do with WHAT and WHERE you are, rather than what you are doing. We are all called to BE a witness right where we live. We do this by displaying the kindness and character of Christ (ie being like Jesus). Through various ministries of serving such as, assisting with food and clothing, simple auto maintenance, yard work and other chores for single women, elderly, disabled and widows. We also engage in Home Missions by supporting specialized ministries such as Teen Challenge (drug rehab and deliverance from other life-controlling problems). Below is a list of Missionaries we have pledged either prayer reinforcement or financial support to:
The Great Commission
Acts 1:8 (NIV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
A church that commits to supporting missionaries and praying for the lost around the world will have an increased vision for reaching its own community. That’s what we want.
Missions Sunday
We designate the first Sunday of every month as Missions Sunday where we keep the vision for world missions alive and receive monthly faith promise offerings.
Faith Promise
This is a concept taught in Scripture by the apostle Paul. In 2 Corinthians, chapters 8 and 9, Paul shares the inspiring testimony of the sacrificial giving of the Macedonians. They gave in two ways:
-
according to their ability
-
beyond their ability
Giving according to your ability requires no stretch of faith. But how can people give beyond their ability?
Simple… God is personally involved in their (your) finances.
God is Your Source
Malachi 3:10 (NIV) Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
A Faith Promise is a missions pledge based on what you know you can give, and also on what you believe God will enable you to give beyond your means.
“God will give much more through you than He will ever give to you.”

2 Corinthians 9:10-11 (NIV) Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. {11} You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
We have made monthly commitments to some of theses ministries. Please pray for them, and if you are able, designate a portion of your giving to a specific ministry, or to “missions” to be used where needed.
